MINIBUS POTENTIAL

November 26th, 2009

MINIBUS POTENTIAL
Depending on how quickly VOSA moves to seize, impound and potentially destroy many of the high capacity and stupidly long illegal stretch limousines, this could give the high-end minibus industry a golden opportunity to capitalize on the situation and pitch for some of the lucrative business which has been sustaining the limousine sector for many years.
Limo-style minibuses, limo cruisers/party buses may not have the dual purpose, workhorse-type nature the coach industry has been accustomed to but for the rates available why would you need to keep the wheels turning day and night to earn a living? High rates and massive margins on jobs are further emphasized by a lower staff requirement, lower mileage, and reduced maintenance. Burning less fuel also suggests fewer emissions and a greener, environmentally friendly operation with a lower carbon footprint.

LIMO LAW BEING PUSHED

November 26th, 2009

LIMO LAW BEING PUSHED
Within the limousine hiring industry and limousine selling industry getting more and more popular, from the 1st October this year the limousine laws including SVA, IVA, & COIF certifications are being pushed forward. Limousines are being pulled over by police, checked, and if they do not have the right certification for the vehicle, they are towed away, the passengers left, and the vehicle being crushed.

For the limousine operators that follow these set rules, it was unfair that others were going against the laws and regulations and carrying more than what they were allowed to, from this the legal limousine operators had no chance in the competition. Limo Hire is a website based company in which helps clients find the legal limousine companies around the country. Limo Hire quote,
‘COIF modification by Manchester-based Pinnacle Engineering is available to companies whose Hummer-Type limousine do not currently conform to COIF standards. SVA and IVA certified stretch Chrysler 300c stretch limousine, Lincoln Town Car and Dodge Charger Limousines can be purchased for hire and reward companies such as 1st4limosales’.
‘Due to VOSA’s recent policy statements and associated publicity, it is becoming very clear a significant number of limousine operations have been running without any form of licensing and operating vehicles which do not conform to the required certification levels’.

‘Remember this: The current laws have always been there. All that is changed are VOSA’s powers to seize, impound, prosecute, and in some cases crush the vehicles operated by people or companies who do not operate with the law the days of simply paying a £200 fee to get your impounded limo back the next day are OVER’.

LEGAL LIMO HIRE ASSOCIATION

November 26th, 2009

LEGAL LIMO HIRE ASSOCIATION
In response to the new powers and proposed actions by VOSA, the Limo Hire Association has released the following statements. ‘the Limo Hire Association website has been set up to embrace legal limousines and to accept ONLY legally abiding limousine operators into our ranks. That does not mean we necessarily agree with all the laws and regulations and how the new enforcements are being applied, but there is no doubt that some operational parameters are necessary within our industry’.
‘A set of laws and regulations specifically set out for our very unique vehicles and hire operations would be ideal, as at the moment our vehicles have no special recognition. VOSA advises that we need COIF, SVA, or IVA certification to make them legal in the UK and that we need valid Operator Licenses to operate our businesses. If that is what the law says, the Limo Hire Association will always operate within the law’.

‘One resounding positive of the new enforcement policies is that the legal limousine operators will appreciate a level playing field is finally being created in which they can compete. From now on a maximum of 16 passengers per vehicle is the limit. The legal operators previously never stood a chance of competing in the illegal sector of the market. The application of these new enforcements policies will mean limousine hire customers will be able to choose  the best product or service required instead of choosing who can carry the most’.

12 MONTHS FOR FAR ATTACK ON HEREFORD DRIVER

A 20 year old South Wye man who joined in a racially aggraved attack on a limousine driver has been sent to detention for 12 months. The trainee bricklayer and three of his friends ordered the 16 seater party bus to have a good night out and have a heavy drinking session. They subjected Shahid Ali to the ‘usual chatter’ about Pakistani men and taking all the jobs in England before he stopped to let the customers out.
But the three men then attacked Mr.Ali, punching him to the head and neck. He was taken to hospital with a deformed nose and a head wound, Worcester Crown Court heard. Pritchard of Red hill Hereford, was found guilty of racially aggravated assault after a trial before magistrates. The party bus also had £500 worth of damage done to it. Judge Andrew Geddes said it was ‘repulsive behavior totally unacceptable in a civilized society’.  He added ‘limousine drivers provide a valuable service to the community but expose themselves to risk of assault due to people drinking way to much. The courts have a duty to protect them’. The judge ordered Pritchard to pay Mr.Ali £400 compensation, but police were quickly on the scene and arrested Pritchard. He called a women police officer ‘a dirty tramp’ and said Mr.Ali should go back to where he came from.

Mr.Rafiq claims an argument started outside a club when he told the drunken officer that if he has to be sick, he must tell the driver with notice so that he can pull over, or the officer would have to pay an extra £125 on top of his hire.

An investigation is now looking into claims of racist insults was used during the exchange. Later, the limousine driver found a mobile phone that had been left in the Chrysler limousine which he identified as belonging to PC Dawson after finding a picture of his uniform stored on the handset.
The constable has been questioned by the force and denies the allegations of racism. They got out and tried to walk away, when I told then they had to pay an extra fine for the man who was sick I got punched hard in the face. Then they ran up behind and started hitting me on the back of the head. Im very lucky police broke it up’.

Mr.Kam added ‘I was hit so hard; when I got home I was seeing stars. Police saw them attack me and these men still get away with nothing. Its disgusting, there’s enough violence towards use as it is and this will just encourage more attacks’. Mr.Kam was checked out at Bradford Royal Infirmary and says he is still afraid of going back to work. West Yorkshire Police spokeswomen said ‘at around 2am two men were arrested for public order offences. The two males were detained and on release were given fixed penalty notices of £80’.

Bus operators Motors onto Beat Recession

Bus operators Motors onto Beat Recession

A new West Midland-based bus operator can claim to be one of the few real success stories during the current economic downturn.

AMPM travel is just six months old and is overcoming the harsh climate by not only setting up during one of the worst recessions in history, but actually expanding further job opportunities.

The family run firm, which began operating on Birmingham’s Stratford Road in February, will soon be expanding on one of Birmingham’s busiest routes, the number 14. this new service will run every 30 minutes between Birmingham and chelmsley wood, Monday to Saturday.

The expansion onto other bus routes is only one of the many highlights for AMPM. Other successes include bringing over 20 new jobs to the West Midlands, a growing number of loyal customers on their no.6 route between Birmingham and Solihull, and expansions into school contracts. Whilst AMPM have been busy building a loyal customer base. They have also been praised for their strong focus on customer service after becoming one of only a few bus operators in the UK to successfully launch an official fan site on leading social network, face book.

AMPM’s managing director Mel Kang, 29 said: ‘We’re delighted with the first six months and id like to thank everyone who has shown their support. When we launched in February we did so with a promise to introduce low fares and quality services, whilst also bringing new jobs to the area. We have delivered on all of these pledges and I feel the time is right to expand out ‘low-fares, high quality’ model onto the other bus routes.’
Commenting on AMPM’s launch into the world of face book, Mr Kang added ‘we want to communicate and promote our business as widely as possible, and facebook represents an amazing opportunity to regularly interact with our customers and to thank, reward and seek feedback from them. We’ve had a terrific response to our facebook site and are continuing to commit a lot of time and investment into the project-one of the first of its kind in the bus industry.’
