LEGAL LIMO HIRE ASSOCIATION
LEGAL LIMO HIRE ASSOCIATION
In response to the new powers and proposed actions by VOSA, the Limo Hire Association has released the following statements. ‘the Limo Hire Association website has been set up to embrace legal limousines and to accept ONLY legally abiding limousine operators into our ranks. That does not mean we necessarily agree with all the laws and regulations and how the new enforcements are being applied, but there is no doubt that some operational parameters are necessary within our industry’.
‘A set of laws and regulations specifically set out for our very unique vehicles and hire operations would be ideal, as at the moment our vehicles have no special recognition. VOSA advises that we need COIF, SVA, or IVA certification to make them legal in the UK and that we need valid Operator Licenses to operate our businesses. If that is what the law says, the Limo Hire Association will always operate within the law’.
‘One resounding positive of the new enforcement policies is that the legal limousine operators will appreciate a level playing field is finally being created in which they can compete. From now on a maximum of 16 passengers per vehicle is the limit. The legal operators previously never stood a chance of competing in the illegal sector of the market. The application of these new enforcements policies will mean limousine hire customers will be able to choose the best product or service required instead of choosing who can carry the most’.
