VICIOUS ATTACK ON LIMO DRIVER
A limousine driver has been left needing plastic surgery after a vicious assault by a group of passengers he had been driving to Ashton. The attack happened at 4.45am on a Friday. The 55 year old driver John who had been driving the Chrysler 300c stretch had picked up a group of six men near the Stamford Arms pub, he drove them to Cottingham Drive in Ashton where one of the passengers attacked him from behind with a glass bottle, repeatedly striking him in the head and face.
The other passengers then joined in the brutal attack, kicking and punching the driver before stealing his wallet and takings. Following the assault, he had lost control of the silver limousine he had been driving which rolled into a nearby car. The incident left him with a deep cut to his right cheek that required stitches. He then had to go to hospital to receive plastic surgery treatment to the wound.
Tracy, owner of the limousine company reported ‘nobody deserves this; he’s just a man trying to earn a living. He’s been driving with us since we first set up the company. He works regularly so everyone knows him and many clients continue to ask for him to be their chauffeur, he’s a lovely guy’.
