GRAND ILLUSION BESPOKE VEHICLE OF THE YEAR 2010

September 8th, 2010

The stretched limousine market is forever changing, VOSA may not have carried out the plans to impound and even crush illegally operated limousine however the government body makes no secret of the fact that it doesn’t like the American based cars.

Meanwhile stricter import standards, a tough economy, unfavourable exchange rates and the demise of Hummer in the US, have combined to see the flow of the stretched limousine into the UK turn from a torrent into a trickle. Against this backdrop, limousine buses present a viable alternative and one that meets with VOSA’s approval, as the base vehicle have full volume type approval.  We haven’t seen a limousine bus as well executed as the Grand Illusion, the first winner our bespoke Vehicle of the year award. Based on either a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or the near identical Volkswagen Crafter, it features a fantastic interior, complete with neon lights, large screen television, minibar and colourful, fun upholstery. NEW LIMOUSINE BUSINESS TO HIT LONDON

August 3rd, 2010

Doug Cheyney has put all his money on hoping corporate clients will drive his new limousine hire business to stardom. Doug has recently opened a new limousine business adventure limousine in South Londonderry Township, his third business venture overall. He also operates Cheyney Property Maintenance and Eco Green Clean Pro, a carpet cleaning business.

The mum of Cheyney said ‘we are an entrepreneurial family’ for now, Adventure Limousine is a one-vehicle operation, (an eight seater Lincoln stretched limousine) while the economy has been starting to show the signs of growth, Doug does know many businesses are still operating on tight budgets. He does hope that his limousine company can offer the public the ability ‘to entertain clients and work around thin budgets. We can customize programs for each business’

EVER THOUGHT ABOUT TRAVELLING EUROPE IN A STRETCHED LIMOUSINE?

July 29th, 2010

Well for Thame resident David Monument and three of his friends, the idea of traveling to Venice in a stretched limousine is now reality. The four of them who all work for Activision in the town, are taking part in the Crumball rally, they set off on Thursday on their European adventure, aiming to raise money for the charity Transverse Myelitis Association, this charity supports the victims of a neurological disorder caused by inflammation of the spinal cord.

David quoted ‘Our aim is to get to Venice in four days, there are 84 teams in the rally so I gues our aim is to win, or come somewhere close, but to get there at all would be just great. Its basically for fun and to raise money along the way. I had this stretched limousine and we thought it would be good to deck it out with an Xbox and a plasma TV so that those who aren’t driving could play it, and that when we stopped we could open it up to other races and people could have a play’.

The team will also be stopping at Verzasca dam, in Switzerland, which is where one of them will emulate the opening scence of the 1995 James Bond film Goldeneye by bungee jumping from the 220m structure.

SEVEN LIMOUSINES TAKEN DOWN AT END OF SCHOOL PROM

July 29th, 2010

A total of seven stretched limousine carrying school children to and end of school prom had failed all safety tests. The prom held in Bedfordshire is supposed to be the most enjoyable night for a teen having their last night as a high school student. However this all changed when they were deceived by limousine companies in which they had said that all their limousine are road legal and have been tested. Only one vehicle was fit to carry anyone to the high school prom. Council officials, police and the Vehicle and Operators Services agency (VOSA) had carried out the inspection on the spot checks. From this, serious problems were found when the limousines were checked for mechanical faults and documents inspected. Prohibition notices were issued to seven of the eight limousines hired for the occasion. ‘one was in such a dangerous mechanical condition, it had to be compounded overnight’ said one police spokesman. ‘its driver was issued with a £200 fixed penalty notice, in the case of a student who arrived at the school premises standing in an ice-cream can, for which his parent had paid its drive a fee, both the driver and owner are now facing potential prosecution.

LIMOUSINE COMPANY SAVES PROM NIGHT

July 14th, 2010

Another sad story with a hero ending with the prom nights this year. One group of year 11 girls from Bradford had nearly had there prom night ruined after the stretched limousine company they had booked with failed to turn up. One of the dads of the prom goers had called the company and asked what had gone on, he was told that the vehicle had broken down and wouldn’t be able to attend, no replacement limousine was even offered.

With one desperate youngsters needing a ride to their prom night, the girls went to flag down a passing limo and asked if they could help them out, the chauffeur then agreed to shuffle his jobs around in order to save the day for the youngsters.

The limousine company who helped them out were Oasis limos, they had explained that they had three different limos in the area and had explained that they could rearrange everything to help them out. The company which failed to turn up refused later in the week to return the girls deposit as they had told the press about the incident. It has been reported that the limousine company let down a number of other prom goers on the same night by providing the luxury transportation they had booked for.

96 MINIMUM PROMSTERS LEFT ON SIDE WALK AFTER VOSA CRACKDOWN

July 8th, 2010

Due to the pure fact that most limousine companies are not listening to the law or acknowledging the changes, VOSA are cracking down on the limousine firms that choose to go against them.

A prom night is the last chance to look back on your school life and remember the good times, the hard and to have an insight of what the future will bring, however one prom in Peterborough was ruined as a limousine company (not to be named) had not been honest to their costumers by not following the law and therefore creating the worst possible nightmare for a promsters last night of school life.

Twelve limousines in total were called to a stop, all of which from the same limousine firm. All of the limousine chauffeurs had no UK licence, three of the limos had then been towed and scrapped leaving the promsters on the side road, the hummer style stretch limousine had fifteen people on board with no COIF certificate, and every time they tried to turn the limousine on, it drenched the road with petrol which was coming from the engine.

From this over 12 limousines worth of prom goers last school night was ruined, how much more until people learn.

MAKING ROYAL ASCOT A TREAT!

July 5th, 2010

Dear Gary,

I cant thank you enough for making my day out with the girls to Ascot an extra special one. Back in November I was diagnosed with a terminal illness which was completely unexpected and very shocking, and saw the start of my wish list.

Every year, my girls and yours truly have gone to Ascot ladies day; it’s the only time we get to be ladies! For us it has always been a special day, we are very close and this was our time. When my diagnosis began to sink in, we wanted to fulfil the saying that one year we would go in style by Limo, and it is thanks to you that this was able to happen.

Myself, and the girls, the newest edition being nick, had the most amazing day. To turn up at Ascot and be in the only Red Dodge Charger was just simply out of this world, and this would not have been possible without the generosity of not only a professional businessman, but the generosity of a complete stranger whose kind act of generosity simply touched me, (that’s you Gary in case your wondering….)

Everything about our day was truly special, from the sun (im sure you ordered that too), the company of the girls and Nick, and the amazing Limo with a very brave Steve at the wheel! And how superb was he?! We couldn’t have asked of a more perfect day and Steve was a perfect gentleman, nothing was too much trouble for him, he looked after us and a firm telling off when we tried to tidy up our mess too! The man deserves a medal for looking after and putting up with us like he did. I found the whole day an emotional rollercoaster and hope that this will not have been my last time at Ascot, and bless Steve for hugging me when it all got abit too much.

The finishing touch was how he got out daughter Abigail involved both before we left and after we came back, she was the first in the Limo to see the inside, and a trip to the end of the road simply made her day and meant so much to myself and Nick.

So thank you Gary you truly made my wish come true, and we couldn’t have done it in better style. The Red Dodge Charger was just perfect; it’s a beautiful car and one hell of a sexy beast! This time it has 8 sexy people inside it, who felt like stars. Your company is a peoples one, you simply care about your clients and look after them from start to finish. Steve was even polishing the windows outside my house before we left as there was smear on them apparently! We couldn’t see it, but it’s the little touches that mean everything;  the way the bar was polished and ready for the refill on the way home, the table and chairs were set up and the food was ready for our return, we know that we would never have got this level of personal professionalism from just another limo company, yours is stuff dreams are made off, and you made mine into reality. You also gave us some extra special memories for myself, Nick and the girls to look back on, because we will never forget anything about our perfect day.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my dream day come into reality.

With love, Jane xx

Councils looking at limousines more objectively?

June 9th, 2010

Just recently, we have started giving formal presentations to council licensing officers about stretch limos – what they are, how they are built, VOSA’s requirements etc.

One such presentation was given to Spelthorne Council and invited licensing officers from other councils (12 in all) on 13th April.  The presentation was followed by a very open Q and A forum and “both sides” were very open and frank – from the good, the bad and of course, the ugly.

Today, we received the following email from the senior licensing officer of Runneymede Borough Council, who until now, have not licensed limousines:

 BEGIN QUOTE

Just a short note to let you know that Members of the Regulatory Committee agreed, last night, to relax the restriction & requirement of 3 point lap & diagonal passenger seat belts for side or rear facing seats.

he item put before the Committee was aimed at removing the one condition that inhibited the licensing of ‘stretched limos’ in Runnymede.

There seems to be no good reason why any operator based within the Borough cannot now become licensed with us and operate within the law.

Please feel free to contact us should you wish any further information.

END QUOTE

This is good news and goes to show what can be achieved if a sensitive and accurate approach is adopted and put before the authorities, who of course, have the deciding vote.

We also heard today that both Bolton and Walsall Councils have agreed to license limousines of up to eight passengers.
