EVER THOUGHT ABOUT TRAVELLING EUROPE IN A STRETCHED LIMOUSINE?

July 29th, 2010

Well for Thame resident David Monument and three of his friends, the idea of traveling to Venice in a stretched limousine is now reality. The four of them who all work for Activision in the town, are taking part in the Crumball rally, they set off on Thursday on their European adventure, aiming to raise money for the charity Transverse Myelitis Association, this charity supports the victims of a neurological disorder caused by inflammation of the spinal cord.

David quoted ‘Our aim is to get to Venice in four days, there are 84 teams in the rally so I gues our aim is to win, or come somewhere close, but to get there at all would be just great. Its basically for fun and to raise money along the way. I had this stretched limousine and we thought it would be good to deck it out with an Xbox and a plasma TV so that those who aren’t driving could play it, and that when we stopped we could open it up to other races and people could have a play’.

The team will also be stopping at Verzasca dam, in Switzerland, which is where one of them will emulate the opening scence of the 1995 James Bond film Goldeneye by bungee jumping from the 220m structure.

SEVEN LIMOUSINES TAKEN DOWN AT END OF SCHOOL PROM

July 29th, 2010

A total of seven stretched limousine carrying school children to and end of school prom had failed all safety tests. The prom held in Bedfordshire is supposed to be the most enjoyable night for a teen having their last night as a high school student. However this all changed when they were deceived by limousine companies in which they had said that all their limousine are road legal and have been tested. Only one vehicle was fit to carry anyone to the high school prom. Council officials, police and the Vehicle and Operators Services agency (VOSA) had carried out the inspection on the spot checks. From this, serious problems were found when the limousines were checked for mechanical faults and documents inspected. Prohibition notices were issued to seven of the eight limousines hired for the occasion. ‘one was in such a dangerous mechanical condition, it had to be compounded overnight’ said one police spokesman. ‘its driver was issued with a £200 fixed penalty notice, in the case of a student who arrived at the school premises standing in an ice-cream can, for which his parent had paid its drive a fee, both the driver and owner are now facing potential prosecution.

LIMOUSIN ENGULFED IN FLAMES

July 19th, 2010

One of the big days in American history, while others had been enjoying the July 4th fireworks and barbecue’s,  a 66 year old women was to attend a wedding at a spa and resort. A stretched white limousine picked her up from her home; she had about an hours drive before set down. After she had settled down in the back, she had noticed that the car was too hot, minutes later she was helped about by the chauffeur of the limousine. It had burst into flames.

Ongoing watchers had said the limousine had almost reached the end of the road when it engulfed in flames, he got out and opened his door and said that the limo was on fire and going to explode. The old lady said that she could hardly walk, from this the chauffeur had put her arms around his neck so he could help her out onto the street, less than 5 minutes later, the car have become engulfed in flames. After a few moments more, they both had heard booms, two fire engines and a ladder truck were dispatched. By the time that the fireman had arrived, the flames had spread onto a nearby telephone pole.

It had been 104 degrees that day on the thermometer, I would think the heat had a good chance of playing the major role in that said the chauffeur.  The converter was tested simultaneously, and within 27 years, this has never happened.

July 14th, 2010

Another sad story with a hero ending with the prom nights this year. One group of year 11 girls from Bradford had nearly had there prom night ruined after the stretched limousine company they had booked with failed to turn up. One of the dads of the prom goers had called the company and asked what had gone on, he was told that the vehicle had broken down and wouldn’t be able to attend, no replacement limousine was even offered.

With one desperate youngsters needing a ride to their prom night, the girls went to flag down a passing limo and asked if they could help them out, the chauffeur then agreed to shuffle his jobs around in order to save the day for the youngsters.

The limousine company who helped them out were Oasis limos, they had explained that they had three different limos in the area and had explained that they could rearrange everything to help them out. The company which failed to turn up refused later in the week to return the girls deposit as they had told the press about the incident. It has been reported that the limousine company let down a number of other prom goers on the same night by providing the luxury transportation they had booked for.

CHAUFFEUR ACCUSED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT

May 12th, 2010

A limousine chauffeur has been taken to court for being accused of sexually assaulting a 15 year old girl on her prom night. Graham Currah has denied the so called charges of assault with the child and false imprisonment which had occurred last summer in his limousine. A jury had heard the girl explain how she had felt ‘petrified and sick’ when Graham had touched her leg, told her she was ‘gorgeous’ and tried to kiss her. Being that the chauffeur had never met the girl before hand, why would a child make up such story?

A prosecutor Paul Newcombe had told the jury, ‘All of those approaches were unwelcome and unprovoked and you will hear her evidence that he manipulated the circumstances so he could be alone with her for some time’ the court had then heard for the chauffeur was booked to take four schoolgirls to their big night and then retrieve them at the end of the night. The victim who is now still just 16 had told the court that she had drunk two glasses of champagne to celebrate her school years, she had this on the way to the prom and three on the way back, she had expected her friend who mum had booked the limousine for their big night to be dropped home last instead, the chauffeur dropped her home first.

Throughout the journey, while the teenager was the only girl still in the limousine, she had told the 27 year old driver she was feeling very drowsy and ill. The chauffeur had quoted ‘This can be caused through to much heating in the vehicle, loud music and because the journey is bouncy’. From this the young girl asked to move to the front, she had told the jury that the vehicle then slowed down doing to 5-10 mph and the chauffeur had a sat nav but didn’t know where he was going, this is when she become worried.  ‘I started to feel uneasy at him keep looking at me, so I looked out the window, he then said something like, from all the girls iv picked up tonight, you’re the most gorgeous wish I could stay with you for a little longer, or something along those lines, it made me feel uncomfortable’. From this he had stopped the limousine within a bus lay-by go out, walked the side, opened the door and tried to kiss her, but she had moved back. He then got back into the car, and reached to touch the girl’s leg. The young girl said ‘there was tinted windows, no one could see in, what happens in a limousine, stays in a limousine’. The overall journey had taken 50 minutes, rather than 12. whether she had intended to move to the front for attention, or whether the chauffeur is fully guilty will be judged by the jury.
